Synthesis named as one of top ten fintech firms to watch

Techfinancials.co.za, one of South Africa’s top online technology news platforms, has included Synthesis in their list of the top ten financial technology (fintech) firms to watch.

Synthesis, founded in 1997, offers highly specialised software development, consulting and integration services and technology based product solutions to banking and financial institutions in South Africa and other emerging markets.

Synthesis is a South African home-grown success story with specific expertise in cloud services. Synthesis has focused on the financial services sector for 20 years, with blue-chip clients such as Absa, Nedbank, and Investec.

On 16th February 2017, JSE-listed Capital Appreciation Limited announced that agreements have been concluded to acquire 100 percent of Synthesis. Following the acquisition Synthesis remains an independent operating entity within the Capital Appreciation Group.

Michael Shapiro, MD of Synthesis says, “Synthesis started as a team of passionate software developers intent on transforming financial services for its customers in a meaningful way. As part of this journey, we earned their trust, built rewarding partnerships and provided high-impact services. As we continue to grow we look forward to clients in new markets having access to our expertise.”

The company’s focus is on the biggest impact areas in fintech: cloud, digital channels, blockchain, and big data. In addition, Synthesis addresses upcoming trends such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Synthesis is well positioned to capitalise on financial institutions’ on-going requirements to invest in innovation, increase customer reach, reduce operating costs and enhance regulatory compliance. It is also the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) Consulting Partner to reach Advanced Partner status in the African and Middle East regions, which enables clients to effectively utilise cloud technology.
